GMRSC – From Pamphlets to Informative Videos

Project Overview:
The Greater Miramichi Regional Service Commission (GMRSC) needed to communicate important information about Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) to local residents. While pamphlets provided clear written guidance on safe storage, disposal, and event procedures, the challenge was making this content more engaging, accessible, and easy to share across digital platforms.

Challenge:
Printed newsletters often had limited reach and struggled to engage residents who prefer visual, digital-first content. GMRSC wanted a solution that could translate detailed safety guidelines into a modern, engaging format without losing accuracy.

Our Approach:

  • Reviewed existing HHW documents to extract key safety messages, including proper storage, preparation for disposal, event guidelines, and tips to reduce hazardous waste.

  • Scripted and storyboarded videos that simplified technical information into easy-to-follow visuals.

  • Produced short, informative video modules designed for use on websites, social media, and community outreach campaigns.

  • Designed graphics and animations to illustrate safe practices (e.g., storing motor oil, handling propane tanks, keeping HHW out of garbage bags).

Outcome:
The videos transformed static pamphlets into dynamic, shareable assets that boosted engagement and improved public awareness. Residents now had a clear, visual guide on HHW safety and collection events, helping GMRSC increase compliance and reduce risks at the community level.
